Fashion trends

Fashion repeats itself.  Maybe people are afraid of the future, so they rather turn back to good old days. Maybe those times deserve to be remembered. It's interesting how fashion trends can wake up nostalgia in us...
By watching trends I couldn't help to notice some similarities:

Byzantine cross pendants portray ancient symbols of Christian faith and spirituality within the cross design. In the era of Byzantium, they were made for the elite of the Byzantine empire and beautifully decorated with floral patterns worked in multicolored cloisonné enamel on a single sheet of gold.
The cross pendant trend is not new, though, many Christians  and  many celebrities, especially Madonna, wear such a necklace as a part of their everyday outfit.
But D&G made it special again. What they did differently is that they used a similar technique of decorating for pendant, the enameling with ceramic disks, which reminds of ancient byzantine art technique and this way the byzantine cross pendant revives.

Everlasting blue colour

Monaco Blue

There is something noble about blue. Although it was a latecomer among colours used in art and decoration, it found it's way throughout the history.
In Egypt, blue was the favourite colour to Egyptian pharaohs. They wore blue when they went to war because it reflected the colour of the sky god Amon and it was symbol for divinity. It was also used by Romans, Greeks and in the Byzantine empire. In the Middle Ages it had symbolic meaning for holiness and in the 19th century blue was the colour of the dress made especially for Duchess Charlotte and since then we have the term royal blue.
Like the history shows, there is some connection between divine, royal and blue.  And according to Pantone's specialists, this spring and fall it's back again in shades of Monaco Blue and Mykonos Blue.

This trend goes back to the 1960’s and it's here again. Must have for summer 2013. In my opinion it's a good idea to give comfort a chance, too.

If you find it interesting how history plays with fashion and fashion plays with history, check Part Nouveau blog. I think it's amazing.

Proud & happy

“It’s never too late to follow your dreams.” – I’ve read somewhere. I know I wasn’t the only person in the world who’s in love with fashion but who’s life has gone the different way. I work as a teacher of German language for twelve years now. You know the lines like: “You have to be realistic, you need to live in the real world, fashion is just a dream, you’ll never succeed…” and there was life happening and somehow I pressed my greatest passion somewhere deep into my subconscious. Until one day when I randomly found the official site of British college of Professional styling. I bookmarked it right away. And that was it – the spark which started the old flame. I knew I should go for it. And I was right. This course enriched my life in many ways. First of all, I gained all the necessary knowledge about styling. I mean, the practical and technical stuff you simply have to know if you want to start a career as a professional stylist. It seems like a lot of theory, but i...

Roses are red...

My favourite flower is Rose. Cliché or not, I think its beauty is eternal. Classy and elegant. I love that this was a big trend lately thank to D&G again. I've decided to follow this trend by decorating my simple leather bag. What do you think? #fashion #leather #bag #roses #trends #diy

My piece of heaven

Dreams don't come true every time, so one should be happy if they bring their, even the smallest dream, to reality. I know I am. I enjoyed to design it and to pay the attention to every small detail, so welcome to my boudoir!
