“It’s never too late to
follow your dreams.” – I’ve read somewhere.
I know I wasn’t the only
person in the world who’s in love with fashion but who’s life has gone the
different way. I work as a teacher of German language for twelve years now. You
know the lines like: “You have to be realistic, you need to live in the real
world, fashion is just a dream, you’ll never succeed…” and there was life
happening and somehow I pressed my greatest passion somewhere deep into my
subconscious.
Until one day when I
randomly found the official site of British college of Professional styling. I
bookmarked it right away. And that was it – the spark which started the old
flame. I knew I should go for it. And I was right.
This course enriched my
life in many ways. First of all, I gained all the necessary knowledge about
styling. I mean, the practical and technical stuff you simply have to know if
you want to start a career as a professional stylist. It seems like a lot of
theory, but it was nothing like that. I literally couldn’t wait for the next
tutorial to come. It was that interesting to me. Really.
Then, my tutor. I am
teacher myself and I know what work with people means and I’m nothing but
grateful for her guidance. When I read the feedback from her, I knew exactly
where I did good and where I did wrong, but not even once I felt to be
criticized or demotivated. That was very important to me.
Finally, the assignments.
I really enjoyed the assignments. I had to do all of those researches about
fashion history, greatest designers, celebrities… All along I was developing my
own taste and style. You know, no one can teach you to have style or good taste.
You either have got it or not. But this course can teach you how to go outside
your comfort zone, how to try something different. I know I did and I don’t
regret it. Also, I met some amazing people during preparing the assignments and
started new friendships. How great is that? And on top of all that, I had a lot
of fun!
